Steven Espada Dawson

Steven Espada Dawson is the author of the debut poetry collection LATE TO THE SEARCH PARTY (Scribner, 2025). From East Los Angeles, the son of a Mexican immigrant, he received his MFA in the Midwest studying under Kaveh Akbar, Marianne Boruch, Roxane Gay, Terese Marie Mailhot, and Donald Platt. He has served as a poetry editor for Copper Nickel and Sycamore Review. His poems have appeared in many journals and have been anthologized in Best New PoetsBest of the NetPushcart Prize, and Sarabande's Another Last Call. He is a former Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellow and Jay C. and Ruth Halls Fellow at UW–Madison's Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing. He is the poet laureate of Madison, WI.
